This is a notebook of photos and words. Some poetry, some fiction, some real life.

Al Purdy’s “My ’48 Pontiac”

I saw this old Dodge truck in LaSalle, Ontario. It was on the other side of a fence. It reminded me of Al Purdy’s poem “My ’48 Pontiac.” This is an excerpt:

All winter long it wouldn’t start
standing in the yard covered with snow
I’d go out at 10 below zero and coax
and say
“Where’s your pride”
and kick it disgustedly
